Rationale
WBC was founded in 2016 by the visionary Professor Tobias Welte (Germany), to draw attention to, and boost research into the neglected pathology of Bronchiectasis and its comorbidities. Initially bringing together around 250 researchers and clinicians, today the conference has inspired a new era – with bronchiectasis now recognised as the third chronic respiratory pathology – after Asthma and COPD. Scientific progress, new treatment approaches
and stronger multi-disciplinary collaboration is reshaping bronchiectasis care, and improving outcomes – with patient perspectives firmly at the heart of these developments.
Over the past decade, World Bronchiectasis Conference has grown from a small scientific meeting into a major annual event for the global bronchiectasis community. Each year, WBC brings together clinicians, researchers, allied healthcare professionals, industry partners and patients from all over the world, reflecting the fieldโs growing importance within respiratory medicine. Participation continues to grow, demonstrating both the impact and the relevance of
this meeting.
